Main character's sketches
Kino: The protagonist of the book. Kino works hard at pearl diving to support him and his family. Him and his family live in a brush house near the edge of the ocean. When he finds the big pearl, he struggles to do what he promised to when he found the pearl.
Juana: She is more practical than Kino. She obeys her husband just like her culture says to do. She is happy when the pearl is found but realizes quicker that the pearl is a bad thing.
The Doctor: He actually doesn't play an important role in the book. He is more of a symbol of the attitudes that opresses Kino's people. Plus, he represents greed and arrogance. He doesn't pay any attention to Kino's people because they are poor.
